Hidden Appoints a Patron
Hidden Design Festival is pleased to announce Catherine Stewart as its Patron. Her appointment recognises her vision and ongoing support in creating a world class event.
In 2013 Catherine Stewart approached AILDM with the seed of an idea – to hold an event (in partnership with Open Gardens Australia) inviting the public to visit usually private gardens and outdoor spaces designed by Australia’s leading landscape designers. And so, Hidden Design Festival was born.
The event has continued to become an opportunity for leading designers to showcase the very best in outdoor design. Thousands of tickets have been sold to people from all across Australia. Thousands of dollars have been raised for charities.
Catherine is an award winning garden journalist and publisher of GardenDrum – an online gardening magazine and group blog site where over 30 bloggers share stories about plants, design, landscaping and gardens.

Hidden 2018
For 2018, hidden will be opening gardens in NSW in early autumn - over the weekend of 10-11 March.
We are planning another selection of fabulous designed outdoor spaces, reflecting the diversity and talent of Australia’s leading landscape designers.
Our website will be updated as details are finalised, with tickets expected to go on sale later this year. We will keep you up to date via our newsletter and through our Facebook and Instagram pages.
Hidden Design Festival 2016
Hidden is over for another year. We thank everyone involved in this year's event - designers, garden owners, volunteers and our visitors. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
Mountain Gardens 30 April 2016
Hidden Design Festival’s Mountain event is rapidly approaching. Unfortunately, one of our gardens had a number of large trees fall into their garden and needed to withdraw from the event. We really feel for the owners and Frayne, the garden’s designer, who have witnessed much of the garden destroyed under the fallen timbers of two towering mountain trees.
We have arranged two replacement gardens. The first is in Mount Wilson. It is a classic park style garden with large open spaces and expanses of lawn. There are drifts and swales, gentle slopes, water views, naturalising plants, clusters and copses and long sweeping hedges. The second garden, in Kurrajong Heights, has been created over the last 25 years and reflects the owner’s love affair with romance, fragrance and abundance. It includes rose gardens, a veggie garden, a woodland area plus a quiet, contemplative courtyard.
Tickets are now on sale for NSW
The Australian Institute of Landscape Designers & Managers (AILDM) is excited to invite you to hidden Design Festival NSW 2016 with a new selection of gardens, courtyards and outdoor spaces open to the public.
In addition to sites in Sydney, for the first time we are having a second cluster of sites in the Blue Mountains. Gardens in Sydney will be open on the weekend 2-3 April 2016 and those in Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine on Saturday 30 April 2016.
Tickets are now on sale.
